Henry County Hideaway, Acrylic on Panel, 38" X 48" My wife and I live on the western edge of the Missouri Ozarks. To the east are the forested hills of the Ozarks to the west the rolling and treeless plains of the prairie. Something about rural Ozark life just seems to make a landowner collect old cars refrigerators and whatever.

Highway 83 and Highway EE. Acrylic on Panel, 38" X 48" I sometimes paint scenes for the color they contain rather than the subject matter. This is the case here.

Mt. Elbert Memory Sketch

My brother and I climbed Mt. Elbert, Colorado's highest mountain in 1981. It was altitude training for climbing Pico de Orizaba Mexico's highest mountain. We got as far as the village of Orizaba at the base of the mountain. Our climbing gear didn't, it was stolen by baggage handlers in Vera Cruz. We waited two days in Orizaba and returned to Vera Cruz. This is a sketch of a view I remember from the summit, I especially remember the silvery white lakes shining in the sun to the southwest. Still fresh after 20+ years. This was done with an application called Artrage 2.0, it works on Mac or Windows and is totally free. Well worth the download some great results with some practice.

Pecan Tree on Old 82

This painting was done on location, or Plien Aire for a reporter from the St. Clair County Courier newspaper. It was 18 degrees, very cold. I had to cut the end of one of my paint tubes off with my pocket knife to get the paint out. The paint was like putty. Pecan Tree on Old 82 Highway, Oil on Canvas, 15" X 20" Mr. and Mrs. Mc Clerran Collection.
